Shaft Screw Conveyor
A screw conveyor is a machine that uses a motor to drive the screw to rotate and push materials to achieve the purpose of conveying. The screw conveyor can transport materials horizontally, at an incline, or vertically, offering benefits such as a simple structure, compact cross-sectional area, effective sealing, easy operation, low maintenance, and efficient closed transport. Screw conveyors are classified by conveying form into shafted and shaftless types, and by design into U-shaped and tubular screw conveyors.
Compared with shaftless screw conveyors, shafted screw conveyors have an additional bearing in the middle to fix them, so they will not shake and make noise when the body is long. Shafted screw conveyors are ideal for non-sticky, dry powder materials and small particles like cement, fly ash, lime, and grain. In contrast, shaftless screw conveyors are better suited for transporting sticky, easily entangled materials such as sludge, biomass, and waste.
Working Principle of Shaft Screw Conveyor
When the screw shaft rotates, the material is driven forward along the bottom of the conveyor trough, propelled by the pushing action of the blades, the force of gravity acting on the material, and the friction between the material and the trough wall. The primary force moving the material forward is generated by the spiral blades, which, as they rotate axially, push the material upward and forward along the blades’ tangential path.
The spiral blades welded onto the rotating shaft of the shaft screw conveyor come in various surface types, including solid surface, belt surface, and blade surface types, chosen according to the specific material being conveyed. At the end of the material’s movement direction, the conveyor’s screw shaft is equipped with a thrust bearing. When the body is long, an intermediate hanging bearing should be added.
The conveyor is widely applicable across various industries, including building materials, chemicals, electricity, metallurgy, coal, and grain. This conveyor is well-suited for transporting powdered, granular, and small block materials, such as coal, ash, slag, cement, and grain, either horizontally or at an incline, as long as the material temperature remains below 200°C. This conveyor features a simple structure, low manufacturing cost, and allows for convenient loading and unloading at intermediate points. It can operate with a reversible conveying direction and even transport materials in two opposite directions simultaneously. Additionally, during the conveying process, materials can be stirred, mixed, heated, or cooled.

Advantages of Shaft Screw Conveyor
- The machine’s screw body features a small diameter and high conveying capacity, operates with gear reduction, delivers large torque, produces low noise, and is designed to prevent oil leakage, allowing for extended and reliable use over time.
- The screw body of the machine has a small diameter, a large conveying capacity, uses gear reduction, has a large torque, low noise, no oil leakage, and can be used for a long time.
- The body is strong and has a strong bearing capacity. It can withstand the external force impact of coal ore and other materials on the body.
- Made of a thickened steel plate, it is easy to use, beautiful in appearance, and will not deform during the conveying operation.
- Simple structure, short body, easy to install and use, can also be used as a coal mining machine running track.
